With our SMARTFIT® coupling and patented SMART Tap® procedure there are no shut downs or loss of pressure or fluid flow to the system. Our first test installation took place on January 2, 1997 at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We installed an isolation valve on a live ¾" nitrous oxide lateral without shutting the system down. The entire process took eight minutes. Within that time frame, the operation rooms did not suffer any loss of pressure or flow of gas. The SMART Tap® procedure involves the installation of a perpendicular line block with bypass. This block is converted to an axial line block prior to the required component (valve, manifold, etc.) being installed.
This succession of steps permits the installation to be completed in a short period of time without any contamination of piping and therefore, able to be placed back in service immediately.
Our product line of SMARTFIT® Fittings for use on "K" or "L" Copper Pipe includes: Couplings for copper tubes sizes ½", ¾" 1", 1 ¼", 1 ½", and 2".
